Miller signs with Canucks
Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Vancouver Canucks and unrestricted free agent goaltender Ryan Miller agreed to a three-year contract on Tuesday.
Miller signed with the Canucks on the first day of free agency, inking a deal reportedly worth a total of $18 million.
The 33-year-old American had spent his entire NHL career in Buffalo before being dealt to St. Louis at the trade deadline in March. Miller went 10-8-1 with a 2.47 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in 19 regular- season games with the Blues and then was 2-4 with a 2.70 GAA and .897 save percentage as St. Louis was eliminated by Chicago in the opening round of the playoffs.
All told, Miller went 25-30-4 with a 2.64 GAA and .918 save percentage with the Blues and Sabres in 2013-14. The 2009-10 Vezina Trophy winner has posted a 2.59 GAA and .915 save percentage over 559 career games.
Miller expects to be the No. 1 option in net for Vancouver in 2014-15 with young goaltender Eddie Lack serving as the backup.
