Notes:
Simpson was named to the AP All-American Third Team after just his second season with the Gamecocks this past year when he finished with a team-high 103 tackles, of which 72 were unassisted...Missed much of spring practice in 2005 with a hand injury and yet he still led all SEC defensive backs during the regular season with an average of eight and a half tackles per game...Posted 2.5 TFLs as a sophomore but dropped down to only a single interception...SEC Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2004 and was a Freshman All-American according to many outlets after he tied for the SEC lead and ranked third in the nation with six interceptions...Started all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a freshman, finishing with 61 total tackles and one for lost yardage...Signed on with USC out of high school but did not enroll in class until spring semester in 2004 which makes him eligible to enter this year's draft after sitting out a year between high school and college...Garnering so many accolades as a freshman, Simpson's trophies might indicate he's ready to join the ranks of the NFL but he could still use some tutelage in Columbia nonetheless.
