Description: Brooklyn point guard Deron Williams is slated to have surgery on both ankles next Tuesday. SOURCE: Nets on Twitter
Insight: Ankle issues are likely to follow Williams the rest of his career. He's coming off a disappointing season (14.3 ppg, 6.1 apg) and fantasy owners shouldn't expect much improvement in 2014-15.

Description: The Nets haven't ruled out the possibility of trading point guard Deron Williams this offseason. SOURCE: Howard Beck, Bleacher Report
Insight: It could be tough to do that given Williams' enormous contract (three years, $63.1 million remaining on his current deal). Teams are also going to be skeptical about Williams' health after struggling with ankle issues for the second year in a row. Williams' scoring average this season (14.3 ppg) was his lowest since 2005-06.

Cold5/10/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams followed up his 0-of-9 shooting performance in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Heat by going 3-of-11 with nine points in Game 3 Saturday night.
Insight: Williams had 11 assists and the Nets won, 104-90, to cut Miami's lead to 2-1 in the series. However, Brooklyn is going to need D-Will to be better than its seventh-leading scorer if it's going to put real pressure on the Heat.

Cold5/8/2014 10:19:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams was held scoreless in 37 minutes Thursday against the Heat.
Insight: Williams missed all nine of his shots while also committing two turnovers. For the last time D-Will was held without a point, you'd have to go all the way back to January 30, 2006 against San Antonio. The Nets are in rough shape heading into Saturday's Game 3 at Barclays Center.

Insight: D-Will's just getting a breather before the playoffs. Jorge Gutierrez (3.5 ppg) is a candidate to start in his place.

Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams will play Tuesday against New York. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: He had been a game-time decision because of knee tendinitis. A win tonight will give Brooklyn the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference and a date with Chicago in the first round of the playoffs. The Bulls won in seven games when these teams met a year ago.

4/15/2014 12:02:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams along with most of the Nets are game-time decision as the team rests up for the playoffrs.
Insight: The Nets have an "old" roster with six players 30-years-old or older, so this isn't a surprise. Starting any of the veterans on Tuesday will be a risky play. Marquis Teague, Marcus Thornton and Mason Plumlee could play big minutes.

4/11/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams will sit out Friday with right patellar tendinitis, according to Rod Boone of Newsday. Coach Jason Kidd said sitting him out is about getting Williams rest more than anything.
Insight: Williams has averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.7 threes per game since the All-Star break. With Shaun Livingston also out, Jorge Gutierrez will start and Alan Anderson also will see big minutes.

3/26/2014 10:23:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams dropped 29 points Wednesday in a loss to Charlotte.
Insight: This comes after Williams missed shootaround earlier today because of an illness. Head coach Jason Kidd has really put D-Will to work recently. Including Wednesday, Williams has now played at least 41 minutes in each of his last three appearances.

Insight: He sat out shootaround because of an illness. D-Will has averaged 14.0 ppg on 41.9 percent shooting against the Bobcats this season.

3/26/2014 3:56:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams missed Wednesday's shootaround and is questionable for the Nets' game against the Bobcats due to an illness, according to Andy Vasquez of the Bergen Record.
Insight: Williams has averaged 17 points, 5.7 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.7 threes in 18 games since the All-Star break. He's still not providing the value fantasy owners paid for, but it's a lot better than what he was doing earlier this season. If Williams cannot play Wednesday, Shaun Livingston will move over to point guard.

3/17/2014 9:55:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams torched Phoenix for 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting (3-5 3PT) on Monday night.
Insight: Williams has averaged 17 points, 5.7 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.6 threes in 14 games since the All-Star break. He's still not providing the value fantasy owners paid for, but it's a lot better than what he was doing earlier this season.

3/3/2014 10:03:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams had 20 points, six assists, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer Monday against the Bulls.
Insight: Williams has scored 20+ points three times over the last six games. He did that just five times over his first 36 games this season.

3/2/2014 10:09:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams played through a right wrist injury Saturday in a win against Milwaukee. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: Williams (15 points, four assists) had an ice pack on his wrist after the game. It doesn't sound like he's going to miss any time but it wouldn't hurt to check on D-Will's status one more time before tipoff Monday against Chicago.

2/23/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams has averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds his last two games.
Insight: After sitting out nearly three full weeks to rest his injured ankles (following a PRP and cortisone injection), Williams has averaged just 13.6 points and 6.2 assists in 32.6 minutes per game over 15 games since he returned to the lineup. His shooting is still an issue, as he made just 41.9 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from 3-point range in that span. After having the PRP treatment in his ankles last season, Williams averaged 22.9 points, 8.0 assists and 2.8 threes while shooting .481/.420/.866 in his final 28 games, but it hasn't worked as well this season.

2/6/2014 9:59:00 AM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams had a knee issue late in Monday's game which caused him to limp off the court, but it doesn't appear to be serious, according to Nets beat writer Rod Boone.
Insight: Williams should be ready to go, but it would be worth checking back just before tipoff to verify that there are no problems.

2/3/2014 11:54:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams scored 20 points Monday for the first time since he returned from an ankle sprain on Jan. 20.
Insight: Williams finally returned to the starting lineup Saturday after coming off the bench in his first six games back from undergoing platelet-rich plasma therapy on his ankles and missing two weeks. If the procedure works as well as it did last season Williams should have a big second half.

2/1/2014 6:51:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams will return to the starting lineup Saturday versus Indiana. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Williams (13.2 ppg, 6.9 apg) has come off the bench since his return from an ankle injury on January 16th. He's not the fantasy dynamo that he used to be but if you're interested in double-digit points and a handful of assists, you could do a lot worse than D-Will.

1/26/2014 11:33:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams (ankle) is coming off the bench, but still averaging 30 minutes of court time.
Insight: Williams has averaged 13.3 ppg and 7.7 apg which isn't up to preseason expectations, but not bad off the bench. Fantasy owners should expect him to start soon and hopefully his numbers will return to projected levels.

1/23/2014 2:42:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams (ankle) will come off the bench again on Friday.
Insight: Williams has still managed to get 27.5 mpg off the bench, but don't expect him to stand for the bench role too much longer. Fantasy owners need more of him than his production over the past two games.
