Final Score: Chicago 104, New York 99
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Derrick Rose scored 32 points and helped the Bulls pull away down the stretch en route to a 104-99 victory over the Knicks, keeping New York winless in March.
Rose added seven assists and six rebounds as the Bulls improved to 10-1 over their last 11 games.
Chicago received a spark off the bench from Taj Gibson, who contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Joakim Noah added 12 and 10 in the win.
Carmelo Anthony scored 21 points on as many shots for the Knicks, who have dropped six straight games, tying a season high. Amare Stoudemire chipped in 20 points, while Jeremy Lin totaled 15 points and eight helpers in another setback.
"It sucks losing basketball games," Anthony said. "It's not a good feeling right now. ... We need to get our act together and start winning."
Despite their recent struggles, the Knicks hung tough with the Eastern Conference leaders before faltering in the final four minutes.
Rose scored the last four points of an 8-2 run that gave Chicago a 99-90 lead with 1:37 on the clock. A bucket by Tyson Chandler and a three-pointer by Anthony cut the deficit to four with under a minute to play, and Kyle Korver went 1-for-2 at the foul line to keep New York within striking distance.
But Anthony bricked an ill-advised three-pointer, then missed two more shots off offensive rebounds to essentially end the comeback bid.
Neither team led by more than seven in the first three quarters. New York held a 25-23 lead after the first frame and were on top by two, 50-48, at halftime.
Chicago scored 31 points in the third to take a 79-78 edge into the fourth.
"We're a confident group...but we can still get better," Noah said. "We just need to keep improving to get to where we want to get to."
The Bulls won at Madison Square Garden last month and finish out the season series with a home-and-home set on April 8 and 10...Chicago is 17-3 at home this season...Carlos Boozer scored 15 points for the Bulls, who had 24 second- chance points to New York's six...Chandler had 13 points and 10 rebounds in defeat.
