Kyle Busch snaps Nationwide winless drought at Phoenix

Avondale, AZ (Sports Network) - Kyle Busch ended an 18-month winless streak in the Nationwide Series by taking Saturday's Dollar General 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Busch, the pole sitter, bounced back from a pit road gaffe early in the race. He overshot his pit stall and then received a pit-road speeding penalty, which dropped him back to 23rd. Busch quickly charged through the field to reclaim the top spot, as he dominated from there. He led 142 of 200 laps.

Busch extended his record of Nationwide race victories to 52. His last win came on Sept. 9, 2011 at Richmond (41 races ago). Busch did not score a victory while driving for his own team in the series last year. He formed an alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing during the offseason to field the No. 54 Toyota.

Brad Keselowski finished second, followed by Justin Allgaier, Trevor Bayne and Elliott Sadler.

Jimmie Johnson placed 12th, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, which is co-owned by his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. Johnson made his first Nationwide start since finishing second at Watkins Glen, N.Y. in August 2011.
