Insight: It was his first home run since July 19. Adams has walked just 16 times all season, but seven have come in August. He's managed to bat .309 with 13 homers, 56 RBI and an .825 OPS in 421 at-bats.

Insight: Adams was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 29 so he's eligible to return Friday. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny will have to figure out how to get Adams, Allen Craig and Oscar Taveras regular at-bats even though there are only two spots in the lineup available.
