Description: Houston center fielder Justin Maxwell will need 4-to-6 weeks to recover from his broken hand. SOURCE: Brian McTaggart, MLB.com

3/31/2013 11:09:00 PM
Description: Astros center fielder Justin Maxwell had a pair of triples, a walk and two RBIs Sunday in the season opener against the Rangers.
Insight: Maxwell has some pop (18 HRs in 2012) and speed (nine steals), but he struck out 114 times and hit .229 last season. Still, if anyone on this team has job security, it's him.

9/25/2012 10:41:00 AM
Description: Houston outfielder Justin Maxwell is 5-for-8 (.625) against Cardinals lefty Jaime Garcia with four extra base hits and a 2.102 OPS.
Insight: It's a small sample size, but the numbers are too good to pass up. Maxwell has shown plenty of power with 17 homers in just 291 at-bats, but needs to work on his low batting average (.230).
