Marlins avoid arbitration with Stanton, two others

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Marlins agreed to contracts for the 2014 season with outfielder Giancarlo Stanton and pitchers Steve Cishek and Mike Dunn on Friday, thus avoiding arbitration with all three of their eligible players.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed, but according to sources, Stanton will earn $6.5 million, Cishek will receive $3.8 million and Dunn will make $1.4 million for next season.

An NL All-Star in 2012, Stanton was limited to 116 games last season due to injuries and batted just .249 with 24 home runs and 62 RBI.

Since being selected by the Marlins in the second round of the 2007 amateur draft, the 24-year-old Stanton has clubbed 117 home runs and knocked in 294 runs while batting .265 in 489 games over four seasons, all with the Marlins.

Cishek appeared in a career-high 69 games last season and went 4-6 with a 2.33 ERA. Over three-plus seasons, all with the Marlins, Cishek is 11-9 with a 2.48 ERA in 185 appearances out of the bullpen.

Dunn, 28, went 3-4 with a 2.66 ERA over 75 relief appearances for Miami last season.
