Report: Marlins sending Reyes, Johnson, Buehrle to Jays

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays appear on the verge of orchestrating a mega-trade that would send shortstop Jose Reyes and pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle to Toronto, according to various reports.

FoxSports.com reported that the Marlins would obtain shortstop Yunel Escobar, catcher Jeff Mathis, infielder Adeiny Hechavarria, pitcher Henderson Alvarez and a pair of highly regarded prospects -- outfielder Jake Marisnick and pitcher Justin Nicolino -- in the 12-player deal, with Toronto also receiving utilityman Emilio Bonifacio and catcher John Buck.

Minor-league pitcher Anthony DeSclafani is also believed to be headed to Miami in the swap.

Neither team has yet to announce any move, with an official statement likely being delayed because of the large amount of players and money involved.

If and when it does go through, it would signify a drastic salary reduction for Miami one year after the team increased its payroll to nearly $100 million in the inaugural season of the newly constructed Marlins Park.
