Saucon Valley gets 2014 Mid-Am

Far Hills, NJ (Sports Network) - The United States Golf Association announced on Thursday that Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Penn. will host the 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.

The Old Course and Weyhill Course at Saucon Valley will host the stroke-play portion, while the match-play portion of the championship will be contested on the Weyhill Course.

"Saucon Valley has been privileged to host six United States Golf Association championships," said Andrew Warner, Saucon Valley Country Club President. "We are delighted to have been selected to host the 34th U.S. Mid-Amateur. Saucon Valley's relationship with the USGA dates back 60 years and has been mutually beneficial as our membership proudly offers its remarkable facility for the USGA to hold yet another exceptional national championship."

The last USGA championship at Saucon Valley was the 2009 U.S. Women's Open, where Eun-Hee Ji birdied the 72nd hole to defeat Candie Kung by a single stroke.

It will be the first Mid-Amateur contested at Saucon Valley, which has hosted one U.S. Amateur, one Junior Amateur, one Senior Amateur, the Women's Open and a pair of U.S. Senior Opens.

The championship will be conducted September 6-11, 2014.
