Dahmen wins inaugural PC Financial Open

Vancouver, BC ( - Joel Dahmen carded a 4-under 68 on Sunday to come from behind and win the inaugural PC Financial Open.

Dahmen collected his first career win on the PGA Tour Canada at 16-under-par 272.

Eugene Wong (69) and Brad Clapp (70) shared second place at 15-under, while Chris Williams (66), Olin Browne, Jr. (70) and John Catlin (70) tied for fourth at minus-13.

Third-round leader Jack Newman tripped to a 2-over 74 during his final round at Point Grey Golf and Country Club to fall into a share of seventh with Matt Harmon (66), Ryan McCormick (67), Andrew Noto (67), David Byrne (68) and Kelvin Day (70) at 12-under 276.

Newman entered the day with a 1-shot lead and remained atop the leaderboard until Clapp countered a bogey at the third with birdies at the first, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth to move into the lead at 17-under.

Newman had followed birdies at the first and seventh with a bogey at the eighth to sit at minus-15.

After Newman bogeyed the 10th to hand Clapp a 3-shot advantage, a 2-shot swing at the 11th pulled Newman back within one as he rolled in a 10-footer for birdie and Clapp missed a short par putt.

Newman would later bogey the 14th before a double-bogey at the 16th dropped him well off the pace.

Dahmen, meanwhile, posted birdies at the third, seventh, 10th, 11th, 12th and 15th around bogeys at the fourth and eighth to meet Clapp at 16-under.

Dahmen handed Clapp the outright lead with a bogey at the 16th, but Clapp followed with a bogey at the 17th to also fall to minus-15.

With Dahmen and Clapp entering the 18th tied at 15-under, Dahmen broke free with a 2-putt birdie to claim the win.

Wong had just bogeyed the 18th hole in the penultimate group to finish at 15- under.

NOTES: Dahmen collected $27,000 with the win ... Dahmen's previous best finish on tour was a share of third place at the 2012 Dakota Dunes Casino Open.
