NCAA Game Summary - San Jose State at Hawaii

Honolulu, HI (SportsNetwork.com) - David Fales threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns as the San Jose State Spartans claimed a 37-27 victory over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in a Mountain West Conference bout at Aloha Stadium.
Fales completed just 16-of-35 pass attempts and was also intercepted twice but San Jose State (2-3, 1-1 MWC) was still able to pick up its first conference win of the season. Tyler Winston had six receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown and Chandler Jones brought in four passes for 95 yards and a score. Tim Crawley (21 carries, 93 yards) and Jarrod Lawson (12 carries, 89 yards, Td) were the top rushers for the Spartans.
Sean Schroeder completed 28-of-50 pass attempts and tallied 342 yards for Hawaii (0-5, 0-3) but he offset his three touchdown passes with three interceptions. Vasquez Haynes had six receptions for a career-high 128 yards and a touchdown and Steven Lakalaka led the way on the ground with 77 yards on 16 carries.
Austin Lopez connected on a 44-yard field goal less than two minutes into the contest to get the Spartans out to a 3-0 lead.
Hawaii would get a pair of touchdowns before the end of the first quarter, the first on a nine-yard run from Chris Gant and the second on an eight-yard pass from Schroeder to Haynes.
The Spartans responded with 1:38 left in the opening period with a 61-yard touchdown pass from Fales to Jones.
San Jose State did more than respond on their next drive as Fales threw a 35- yard touchdown pass to Billy Freeman to gave the Spartans a 17-14 lead.
Lopez added to that lead a little more than three minutes later with a 51-yard field goal.
Fales threw his third touchdown pass of the first half when he connected with Lawson from 39 yards out.
The Spartans extended their lead after halftime with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Fales to Winston with just under four minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Hawaii finally put an end to the Spartans' scoring streak with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Schroeder to Billy Ray Stutzmann less than two minutes later.
Lopez nailed his third field goal of the game, this one from 37 yards out, early on in the fourth quarter to push the Spartans' advantage to 37-21.
Lopez missed a 24-yard field goal attempt later in the quarter. The Rainbow Warriors then pulled within 10 points on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Schroeder to Gant. However the ensuing two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Hawaii was forced to punt on its only other possession of the game as San Jose State was able to run out the clock after taking over with just over five minutes to play.
