(Saturday, January 19) Final Score: The Citadel 70, Georgia Southern 55 Statesboro, GA (Sports Network) - Matt Van Scyoc scored a game-high 21 points as The Citadel Bulldogs cruised by the Georgia Southern Eagles, 70-55, in Southern Conference action at Hanner Fieldhouse. Van Scyoc was 5-of-8 from long-range in the Bulldogs' (4-13, 1-6 SoCon) victory. Mike Groselle scored 15 points and was two rebounds shy of a double- double, while Marshall Harris III tallied 11 points and dished out six assists to help The Citadel snapped a 12-game losing streak. For the Eagles (8-11, 2-4), Eric Ferguson was two boards shy of a double- double scoring 10 points. C.J. Reed and Tre Bussey scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, as Georgia Southern had its two-game winning streak snapped. The Citadel shot 57.9 percent from the floor including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, while limiting the hosts to a mere 1-of-8 from long range, en route to a 31-22 advantage at the half. The Citadel continued its impressive shooting after the break by making 61.9 percent from the floor including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, while limiting the Eagles to a mere 6-of-19 from distance over the final 20 minutes.
