(Saturday, January 19) Final Score: Eastern Michigan 65, Miami-Ohio 58 Ypsilanti, MI (Sports Network) - Derek Thompson scored 16 points off the bench as the Eastern Michigan Eagles defeated the Miami-Ohio RedHawks, 65-58, in a Mid-American Conference matchup at the Convocation Center. Glenn Bryant netted 13 points for EMU (9-9, 2-2 MAC) and Jalen Ross dished out eight assists. Daylen Harrison added 10 points. Will Felder paced Miami (7-9, 2-2) with 12 points and nine boards. Allen Roberts added 11 points and five steals as the RedHawks saw their two-game winning streak come to a halt. Miami quickly led 4-0 before EMU roared back and controlled the rest of the first half. The Eagles shot 57.7 percent from the floor and 7-of-11 from behind the arc in the opening 20 minutes as they led 38-25 at intermission. Like the first half, Miami came out as the aggressors and opened the second period on an 11-2 run. The home team regained control and led for the duration of the half. A 3-pointer by Jon Harris with 1:49 remaining cut the EMU lead to 60-58 but free throws from Ross and Bryant kept the RedHawks at bay. The Eagles dominated on the glass, outrebounding Miami 34-24. 01/19 17:17:16 ET Powered by The Sports Network. |
