NCAA Game Summary - Texas State at Texas

(Saturday, December 14)

Final Score: Texas 85, Texas State 53

Austin, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Cameron Ridley registered a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Texas Longhorns easily dismissed the Texas State Bobcats, 85-53, in non-conference action at the Frank Erwin Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Longhorns (9-1) was Isaiah Taylor with 15 points, to go along with eight assists, followed by Javan Felix and Jonathan Holmes with 13 and 11 points, respectively, as they won their fifth straight outing.

The Bobcats (3-7), losers of two of the last three, were led by Joel Wright with a double-double of his own consisting of 19 points and 13 boards, but he was also guilty of six assists and failed to get much offensive support from teammates.

Texas made a total of just 10 field goals in the first half, but the team managed to put up a 33-22 advantage at the break by outscoring the visitors at the free-throw line, 10-1.

In the second half the Bobcats slumped to a mere 28.6 percent accuracy from the floor overall, including 2-of-16 beyond the arc, making it that much easier for the 'Horns to come away with the lopsided home victory.

Texas State finished the night shooting just 29.7 percent from the floor and had almost as many turnovers (17) as made field goals (19).

The last time the Bobcats came out on top against Texas was way back in 1937, with the 25-game series win streak for the Longhorns representing the longest run for the program against any current opponent.
