NCAA Game Summary - Elon at UNC Greensboro (Thursday, January 31) Final Score: Elon 72, UNC Greensboro 66 Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) - Lucas Troutman recorded a team-high 19 points as the Elon Phoenix held on to defeat the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 72-66, in a Southern Conference tilt at Greensboro Coliseum. Troutman added six rebounds, three blocked shots, and two assists in the victory for the Phoenix (14-7, 7-2 SoCon). Ryley Beaumont was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 12 points. Tanner Samson recorded 12 points and four rebounds as Elon won its sixth consecutive game. For the Spartans (6-14, 4-5), Trevis Simpson scored a game-high 21 points to go along with five rebounds, but he shot just 7-of-25 from the floor on the night and turned the ball over six times. Kayel Locke scored 16 points and Derrell Armstrong added 14 as UNC Greensboro had a two-game winning streak snapped. Elon made 43.3 percent from the floor, including four 3-pointers in the first half, while holding the hosts to a mere 2-of-6 from long range, en route to a 39-29 advantage at the break. Despite UNCG opening up the second half on a 9-0 run, Elon made 50 percent from the floor including, 4-of-7 beyond the arc, en route to the six-point victory.
