NCAA Game Summary - Marshall vs. West Virginia (Wednesday, December 5) Final Score: West Virginia 69, Marshall 59 Charleston, WV (Sports Network) - Deniz Kilicli scored 21 points as he helped lift the West Virginia Mountaineers over the Marshall Thundering Herd, 69-59, at the Charleston Civic Center. Kilicli was joined in double-figure scoring by Juwan Staten with 12 points for WVU (3-3) which has now won two in a row after a rough start this season. Aaric Murray led all players with 10 rebounds. D.D. Scarver scored 17 points for the Herd (5-4) in the loss that ended a three-game win streak. Elijah Pittman added 16 points while DeAndre Kane tallied 13 points and seven assists before fouling out. WVU led 31-25 at halftime despite shooting 33.3 percent from the field because the squad scored 10 points off Marshall turnovers. In the second half the Mountaineers outscored Marshall 20-10 in the paint and watched the Herd converted only 9-of-16 at the free-throw line in the period. Marshall shot just 36.5 percent from the floor and 12-of-22 at the charity stripe, not to mention turning the ball over 17 times. Five players were ejected from the game with 1:37 remaining when Robert Goff of Marshall kicked Staten which led to a gathering on the court.
