Description: In his most frustrating game yet, Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald only caught one pass on 11 targets Sunday against the Seahawks in a 58-0 loss.
Insight: Arizona's QB situation is one of the worst we've ever seen and it's destroying Fitzgerald's fantasy value. Fitzgerald has six receptions on 37 targets over his last four games and is probably longing for the "glory days" of Derek Anderson and Max Hall.

Description: Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald caught three passes for 31 yards on the team's first drive Sunday against the Rams but watched his final nine targets fall incomplete.
Insight: According to AzCardinals.com, it was St. Louis' plan to take Fitzgerald out of the game. Rookie QB Ryan Lindley did that for them. The receiver has only reached the century mark once this season, and that came all the way back in Week 3. He has just four touchdowns in 11 games and four receptions on 19 targets his last two games. While it will be difficult to bench a player of his caliber, there's just no way you can continue to start Fitzgerald with Lindley or Skelton under center.

Description: Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald finally turned in a fantasy effort worthy of his draft price Sunday against the Eagles, catching nine passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. In the process, he became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 700 receptions.
Insight: Fitzgerald came in with just 67 yards receiving on five catches and zero touchdowns in the first two games, but Kevin Kolb looked great Sunday against an above average Philadelphia defense. Perhaps Fitzgerald will live up to expectations after all.

Description: Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald only had one catch for four yards in Week 2. In two games, Fitzgerald has five receptions for a measly 67 yards.
Insight: Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Kevin Kolb, John Skelton. Does it really matter? Neither player is going to help Fitzgerald live up to his draft price this season.

9/9/2012 8:11:00 PM
Description: Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald grabbed four balls for 63 yards Sunday.
Insight: John Skelton completed just two passes to Fitzgerald before exiting with an injury in the fourth quarter. Kevin Kolb took over and his first two completed passes were to Fitzgerald. Even if Skelton is healthy next week, we're on Team Kolb now. Just get Fitzgerald the ball!

8/13/2012 8:37:00 PM
Description: According to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com, Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt is frustrated by the indecisive QB play he has seen so far.
Insight: Whisenhunt didn't single out Kevin Kolb or John Skelton, but he said "we had some one-on-one matchups with receivers down the field tonight and we didn't get to them. We didn't throw them. Those are things that are frustrating." Since neither Kolb nor Skelton is a viable fantasy option, the fantasy player most directly affected by Arizona's lousy QBs is wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. While Fitzgerald has still managed to catch 170 passes for 2,548 yards and 14 TDs over the last two seasons with the likes of Kolb, Skelton and Derek Anderson under center, we can't help but long for the days when Kurt Warner was tossing him the ball.

Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are set to sign Larry Fitzgerald to an eight-year, $120 million contract extension that includes close to $50 million guaranteed. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: I guess Arizona was pleased with how Fitzgerald performed last year with a bunch of turnover machines throwing him the ball. Fitz finished the 2010 season with 90 receptions and it was considered a "down year".

Insight: This deal keeps the dynamic playmaker in Arizona for a good portion of his career and he'll develop the chemistry with Kevin Kolb soon enough. He must have liked where the organization is headed.

Description: With the Cardinals' QB situation continuing to be totally up in the air, and second-round rookie Ryan Williams creating an eyebrow-raising logjam at running back, it's easy to lose sight of the team's other position battles. But it appears the competition for the team's second and third receiver spots behindLarry Fitzgerald couldn't be more wide open, with free-agent holdovers Steve Breaston and Early Doucet looking like they could get a serious run for their money from second-year pros Andre Roberts and Stephen Williams. We hear both Roberts, who got off to a shaky start as a rookie but finished strong, and Williams, who did just the opposite, have stood out in recent players-only workouts. Doucet, meanwhile, continues to rehab from offseason surgery '" he was placed on injured reserve last season after suffering a hip flexor injury against Carolina in Week 15 '" and has not been attending any workouts. Both Doucet and Breaston have health issues that continue to be cause for concern [the duo missed nine games combined last season]. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY

Description: Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is only under contract for one more season, and the Cardinals and Fitzgerald failed to come to terms on a contract extension prior to the lockout. Based on the way things have gone since future Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner left town, I wouldn't be surprised if Fitzgerald has already begun packing his bags. When the Cardinals selected Matt Leinart with the No. 10 overall pick in 2006, he was supposed to step in and be the quarterback of the future. We all know how that turned out. Leinart is now a career backup riding pine down in Houston. Since Leinart the Cardinals have had nothing but failed attempts'"excluding Kurt Warner'"at finding a long term solution. John Skelton, Derek Anderson, Max Hall, and Richard Bartel all took snaps under center in 2010 in rotating fashion. Sometime in early-December I saw a change in Fitzgerald's on field demeanor. Normally a vibrant leader on the field, Fitzgerald seemed annoyed by the dysfunction at quarterback. "Larry Fitz is under contract with the Cards until 2012, but he hasn't talked about his future in Arizona," I said back on December 13, 2010. "With no quarterback in sight, I see no reason Fitzgerald wouldn't want to leave the desert as soon as possible. If Cardinals' management know he isn't likely to re-sign after the 2011 season, why not listen to trade offers? He's worth a first round pick in my book." Now these are just my observations, but I spent a lot of time covering the NFC West last season and truly believe Fitzgerald is on his way out. In an interview with Jack Magruder of FoxSports.com, Fitzgerald was asked which quarterback he'd like to see the Cardinals go after, and he said, "Anybody that's going to help us win. That's really how I feel." The Cardinals sit with the No. 5 overall pick in the draft which likely would land them either Auburn's Cam Newton or Missouri's Blaine Gabbert, but Fitzgerald doesn't seem convinced, although he did give high praise to both Newton and Gabbert in the interview, but at the same time seemed bitter. "I would doubt that we would draft a quarterback that high. I would doubt it," Fitzgerald told Magruder. "But, who am I? I'm just a player. Management hasn't told me if they are going to go in any direction." SOURCE: NATIONAL FOOTBALL AUTHORITY

Description: A clause in Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald's contract says the team has to pay him $23 million to franchise tag him in 2012. SOURCE: NFL.COM
Insight: The Cardinals are willing to trade Fitzgerald "for the right price" and this clause would make that more likely. Fitz has already chimed in on changes he wants to see this offseason, including the team trading for Eagles backup QB Kevin Kolb. The team's quarterback situation was the leading cause of Fitzgerald's slumping fantasy numbers in 2010.

Description: Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald, who thrived with Kurt Warner has his QB, saw his touchdown numbers plummet in 2010 with the three-headed disaster of Derek Anderson, Max Hall and John Skelton throwing him passes. Fantasy football owners were universally disappointed. Fitzgerald sent a message to fantasy football players (and maybe Arizona brass?) during Super Bowl weekend. 'I don't know why you would take me next season,' he said before heading into the party, at the Glass Cactus nightclub in Grapevine, Texas. 'I have a couple things I need to straighten out before anybody takes me too high in the draft. Losing Kurt Warner hurt me a lot.' Should I pass on Fitzergald in my 2011 draft? 'You may have to,' he responded, laughing. SOURCE: THE BIG LEAD

Description: Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald says his goal is to retire in Arizona, but he also considers winning his first priority heading into a contract year. SOURCE: ESPN.COM
Insight: Fitzgerald wants to "hoist that Lombardi trophy," but he isn't going to do it in Arizona. Not in 2011 anyway. There is strong belief that the Cardinals will start entertaining offers, but nothing short of a first-round pick, or maybe even two, will get it done.

Description: For the teams not playing in this year's big game, a player of Fitz's caliber could catapult a team to the Super Bowl in 2012. And now that the Cardinals have made it clear that Fitzgerald can be had for the right price, a number of teams may be ringing the Arizona front office. Five tantalizing candidates: 1. Chicago Bears As much as Jay Cutler got blamed for the Bears not defending home field in the NFC Championship, the Bears lack of receiving talent was never more evident. This team needs a play-maker like Fitz. And if there is anyone who can pile up the fantasy stats with a wide receiver, it's Cutler (see: Marshall, Brandon). 2. St. Louis Rams The Rams were a win away from hosting a playoff game this season and winning the NFC West, all with rookie quarterback Sam Bradford at the helm nonetheless. This team is trending upward now. Running back Steven Jackson is not getting any younger and could use a player like Fitz to take some of the pressure off his shoulders. SOURCE: THE HAZEAN

Description: Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald could "want out" of Arizona after his contract expires in 2012. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Fitz is due $7 million this year and his contract is worded in a way that if he gets franchised in 2012, he will have to be paid $23 million that season. He will only be 29 and should land at least one more big deal in his career. As for 2011, his fantasy value all depends on what the team does at quarterback. Even a Marc Bulger could work wonders.

Description: According to league sources, the Cardinals could trade WR Larry Fitzgerald "for the right price." SOURCE: NESN.COM
Insight: "But that doesn't mean the Cards are actively trying to unload him." We would take this with a grain of salt. Fitz had a down year in 2010, but that couldn't be helped with the garbage that was taking snaps under center. He is clearly the best offensive weapon on the team right now. We won't be shocked to see the Cardinals vehemently deny that Fitz is on the trade block, no matter what they are offered.

Insight: Fitzgerald said he had some memory loss after taking a hit late against the Cowboys, but he's "fine" and should be able to play against the 49ers. We'll know more, hopefully, Friday.

Description: Darren Urban of AZ Cardinals.com reports Fitzgerald is "fine" and won't have to take concussion tests this week.

Description: Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald experienced concussion-like symptoms during last Saturday night's win over the Cowboys. SOURCE: ARIZONA REPUBLIC
Insight: Fitzgerald said he recalls little of the game after taking a shot to the head during the team's final drive. He reportedly looked "dazed, holding his head, and blinking to focus" afterward. Depending on the severity, it's now looking like there is a chance Fitz will sit against the 49ers.
