Insight: The Heat were just trying to clear a roster spot. Mason will be on a new team soon but we wouldn't expect him to have a major fantasy impact (3.0 ppg in 25 appearances this season).

Description: According to Bleacher Report's Ethan Sklonick, the Heat have guaranteed guard Roger Mason Jr.'s contract for the rest of the season.
Insight: It's significant because that gives Miami a full 15-man roster. If Miami had released Mason, they might have been able to sign Andrew Bynum, who was waived by the Bulls earlier today. Bynum, though high maintenance, would have been a candidate to defend Pacers center Roy Hibbert when these teams inevitably meet in the postseason. Hibbert has manhandled Chris Bosh in the past and Greg Oden remains without a timetable as he works his way back from a knee injury.

Description: Roger Mason Jr.'s 2012 season is officially over. The Wizards guard is scheduled to undergo finger surgery on Monday.
Insight: Mason had just started to hit his stride this month, scoring double digit points in six out of his final nine games. He could be worth a late round pick in next year's draft.
