Pebble's a wash; Johnson gets the win

Pebble Beach, CA (Sports Network) - Monday's scheduled final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was cancelled due to rain and Dustin Johnson earned the victory without hitting a shot over the last two days.

Johnson shot a five-under-par 67 in Saturday's third round to vault into the lead. He finished at 15-under 201 and won by four strokes over former Masters champion Mike Weir.

"I was fortunate enough to play really well this week the first three days, and then unfortunately we did get rained out on Sunday and Monday," said Johnson, who won $1,098,000. "I even woke up this morning, I got ready, I did everything normal like we were going to play, and then I went outside, and unfortunately it was raining a little bit."

This was Johnson's second PGA Tour win. He titled at last year's Turning Stone Resort Championship and at 24, is one of the youngest players on tour with multiple victories.

On Sunday, there were six hours worth of delays in an attempt to play 72 holes of golf. Play was finally called and the tournament was scheduled for a Monday finish, but that became impossible.

The start of Monday's final round was pushed back an hour, but was eventually called.

Heavy rain pelted Pebble Beach and four greens were determined to be unplayable. The forecast called for rain all throughout Monday, so the tournament was shortened to 54 holes with the third-round results considered final.

This marked the sixth time this tournament was shortened due to bad weather and the first since the late Payne Stewart won in 1999. The last time a PGA Tour event was shortened for weather reasons was the 2005 BellSouth Classic.

Two-time U.S. Open winner Retief Goosen, took third at 10-under-par 206.

Bob Estes and Mark Calcavecchia shared fourth place at minus-nine, followed by D.J. Trahan, Kevin Chappell, Bill Lunde and Chris Stroud, who tied for sixth at eight-under 208.
