GAME NOTES: The College of Charleston Cougars travel to take on the last-place UNC Wilmington Seahawks in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at Trask Coliseum.

Charleston has won two of its last three, including against William & Mary on Wednesday night at home, 87-54. The Cougars are currently in fifth place in the CAA standings.

UNCW sits in last place in the CAA and has lost two straight and 16 of its last 18 overall. The Seahawks' last opponent was also William & Mary, as the Tribe defeated them in Williamsburg on Monday night, 93-70.

The Cougars lead the all-time series, 10-4, and have won two straight and six of the last seven encounters. This is second meeting this season, with Charleston taking the first at home in a 75-70 final on Jan. 22.

Willis Hall tallied 21 points and nine rebounds in the Cougars' recent win over the Tribe. Hall shot 8-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3- point range for Charleston, while Canyon Barry logged 17 points and five assists off the bench, Nori Johnson was also on point from beyond the arc (4- of-7) on his way to 16 points, and Anthony Stitt rounded out the balanced attack with 13 points. Charleston outshot W&M from the field in the first half, 48.1 percent to 26.7 percent, as it carried a comfortable 36-20 lead into the break. The Cougars were even better in the second half, knocking down a blistering 80.8 percent of their shots from the floor. For the game, Charleston shot a red-hot 14-of-22 from 3-point range.

The Cougars are led by Hall (12.4 ppg, 9.3 rpg), who is third in the CAA in rebounding. Stitt (10.3 ppg) and Adjehi Baru (9.3 ppg, 7.8 rpg) are part of the starting lineup for the offensively-challenged squad. The Cougars are next-to-last in the CAA in scoring offense (63.2 ppg), and they are shooting 64.3 percent from the charity stripe and only 41.8 percent from the field overall. At the defensive end, the Cougars give up just 61.0 ppg, the best mark in the league.

In the loss to William & Mary, UNCW was led by Luke Hager and Addison Spruill, who each netted 10 points apiece. UNCW shot an impressive 51.7 percent from the field in the first half, but it couldn't keep pace with the red-hot Tribe, which made good on 60 percent of its tries from the floor. William & Mary carried a 44-36 lead into intermission. The Tribe's lead was never in jeopardy after halftime, as their lead extended to as many as 26 points down the stretch. W&M shot 16-of-30 from beyond the arc, compared to 7-of-17 for UNCW.

Producing at the offensive end of the court has been a struggle for the Seahawks this season. They are netting only 63.2 ppg, tied with Charleston, and shooting a league worst 40.7 percent from the floor. Cedrick Williams (12.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg) represents the only real offensive threat on the roster, connecting on 50.2 percent from the floor, while leading the squad in rebounds as well. Addison Spruill (9.8 ppg) is the second option, but he is an inefficient shooter, hitting only 35.9 percent from the field.

Both teams have their difficulty putting points on the board, but the Cougars have at least had success at the defensive end. Expect them to keep up the defensive pressure against the struggling Seahawks and go home with a victory.
