GAME NOTES: The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers go searching for their first road win of 2013-14 as they pay a visit to the Bowling Green Falcons at the Stroh Center.

The Hilltoppers are a perfect 4-0 in their own building thus far, but away from E.A. Diddle Arena the squad has fallen twice, most recently to Marshall last week. However, on Saturday WKU responded with a 68-53 win over Eastern Illinois.

As for the Falcons, they have only two wins to their credit and one of those was in the season opener against Earlham in a blowout (102-49). Taking part in the Cancun Challenge last week, BGSU defeated Presbyterian (67-45) before suffering a 63-56 defeat at the hands of Oral Roberts.

The Hilltoppers own a commanding 22-9 advantage in the all-time series with BGSU. The most recent meeting two seasons ago was a 60-53 victory for WKU.

Against the Panthers over the weekend, WKU was paced by George Fant who scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor, while T.J. Price pitched in with 13 points and matched Fant on the glass with five rebounds. Western Kentucky knocked down an even 50 percent from the field, yet converted a dismal 4-of-21 from 3-point range.

Price, who has almost three times as many 3-point baskets (15-of-40) as anyone else on the roster, leads the program with 16.0 ppg, followed by Fant who is producing 13.5 ppg which means the duo accounts for close to half of the unit's 63.0 ppg thus far. While the offense has scored more than 68 points only once this season, the defense has done well to limit the opposition to a mere 60.8 ppg

Bowling Green appeared to be well on its way to a victory against Oral Roberts last week, shooting 53.6 percent from the floor in the opening half in order to claim a 35-26 advantage at the break, but the Falcons completely fell apart in the final 20 minutes of action. The team sank only eight field goals, shot 1-of-6 beyond the arc and 4-of-9 at the free-throw line in the second half, en route to the seven-point loss. Cameron Black tried to keep the team alive with his 10 points and game-high 13 rebounds, while Spencer Parker and Anthony Henderson both tallied 12 points in the setback.

Part of the issue for the Falcons of late is not having Chauncey Orr and his 14.0 ppg available, as he is sidelined with a knee sprain and has appeared in just a single game. With him out of action, the active leading scorers for BGSU are Parker (13.5 ppg), Jehvon Clarke (12.0 ppg) and Henderson (11.5 ppg). Unfortunately, that threesome has combined to shoot only 13-of-52 beyond the arc, taking the team down to a mere 25.7 percent accuracy there through six games.

Because of a solid defense, going up against an offense that is lacking a key producer, this might be the perfect opportunity for the Hilltoppers to capture that first road win of the season.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Western Kentucky 66, Bowling Green 54
