NCAA Game Summary - Tennessee Tech at South Florida
(Saturday, November 9)
Final Score: South Florida 72, Tennessee Tech 62
Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Victor Rudd led the way with 23 points, as the South Florida Bulls took down the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 72-62, in the season opener at the USF Sun Dome.
Rudd shot 5-of-11 from the field and was nearly automatic from the foul line (11-of-12) for USF (1-0). Chris Perry came off the bench to tally 14 points and seven rebounds.
For TTU (0-1), Ty Allen poured in 25 points, doing so on 9-of-17 from the floor. Josiah Moore (15 points) and Dennis Ogbe (11 rebounds) both had solid outings from off the bench.
USF shot 42.3 percent from the field in the first half, while TTU made less than 30 percent of its field goal attempts, as the Bulls took a 28-19 lead at the half.
The second half was much higher scoring, and USF held on for the win thanks in large part to its 20-of-27 showing from the foul line over the final 20 minutes.
The Golden Eagles committed 16 turnovers and did not perform well from 3-point range (6-of-22). Their lackluster free-throw percentage (.545) also hurt them.
