Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Keiton Page scored 20 points and handed out five assists to lead the seventh-seeded Oklahoma State Cowboys as they handled the Texas Tech Red Raiders to earn a 76-60 victory in the first round of the 2012 Big 12 Conference Tournament at the Sprint Center.
Brian Williams added 19 points for Oklahoma State (15-17), which will advance to play the No. 2-seed, Missouri, in Thursday's quarterfinal round. Cezar Guerrero contributed 16 points, Markel Brown added 12 points, and Michael Cobbins grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for the Cowboys as they snapped a two-game losing slide.
Jaye Crockett recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the 10th-seed, Texas Tech (8-23), which will end its season on a seven-game losing streak. Jordan Tolbert scored a team-high 16 points while Deshon Minnis netted 10 points for the Red Raiders who matched the school record for most losses in a single season.
The Cowboys took a 32-27 lead into the intermission after they shot 45.8 percent from the floor and converted 9-of-9 from the free throw line in the opening period. Texas Tech remained in striking distance despite connecting on only 29.2 percent of its field goals attempts in the first half.
The Red Raiders attempted to rally after the break by improving their shooting to 58.3 percent from the field, however Oklahoma State knocked down 5-of-11 from beyond the arc and submitted another perfect performance from the charity stripe, by making 7-of-7, to extend its lead.
Oklahoma State managed to score 31 points off of TTU's 18 turnovers to create distance on the scoreboard. The Red Raiders lost despite holding a sizeable 33-21 lead in the rebounding battle. The Cowboys finished made all 16 of their free throw attempts in the contest.
