Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - C.J. Leslie recorded a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds as the NC State Wolfpack closed out their regular season with a 70-58 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies in Atlantic Coast Conference action at Cassell Coliseum.
Scott Wood led NC State (20-11, 9-7 ACC) with 19 points as it clinched its first 20-win season since the 2005-2006 campaign. Lorenzo Brown added 10 points while Richard Howell grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.
Cadarian Raines paced Virginia Tech (15-16, 4-12) with 15 points. Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench while Erick Green netted 15 points and handed out five assists. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Hokies heading into the ACC Tournament.
Virginia Tech was in front for the first seven minutes of action, but the Wolfpack went on a 11-2 run midway through the opening period to take control. NC State took a 38-29 lead into the intermission after it shot 56 percent from the floor in the first half.
The Hokies attempted to rally after the break by hitting 40.7 percent of their field goal attempts in the second half. However, NC State managed to extend its lead by converting 14-of-15 from the charity stripe over the final 20 minutes of the contest.
The Wolfpack dominated inside, as they outscored Virginia Tech, 36-22, in the paint and held a sizeable 40-25 advantage in the rebounding battle.
