NFL Game Summary - Cincinnati at Seattle

(Sunday, October 30th)

Final Score: Cincinnati 34, Seattle 12

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Brandon Tate's 56-yard punt return for a touchdown with 3:22 left in the fourth quarter sealed the win for Cincinnati as the Bengals defeated the Seattle Seahawks, 34-12.

With his 65th win, Marvin Lewis moved ahead of Sam Wyche on the all-time Cincinnati wins list.

Andy Dalton completed 18-of-29 passes for 168 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for Cincinnati (5-2), which won its fourth straight game.

"It was not easy we continue to find ways to win it. We don't make it easy for ourselves , but we continue to win games," Lewis said.

A.J. Green caught four balls for 63 yards and a score, while Donald Lee had three receptions for 44 yards.

Bernard Scott carried the ball 22 times for 76 yards.

Charlie Whitehurst started the game for Seattle, but Tarvaris Jackson replaced him in the second quarter. Jackson was 21-of-40 for 323 yards and an interception for the Seahawks (2-5), who've lost three of their last four games.

Sidney Rice hauled in seven passes for 102 yards, Ben Obomanu had four receptions for 107 yards and Doug Baldwin added 73 yards on five catches.

Dalton completed all five of his pass attempts for 30 yards and Mike Nugent nailed a 34-yard field goal on Cincinnati's opening 12-play, 58-yard march.

Adam 'Pacman' Jones -- who hadn't played in a game for over a year due to a herniated disc in his neck -- returned a Seattle punt 63 yards to the opponent's 26-yard line. But Jones left the game with a right hamstring injury and did not return. Three plays into the drive, Dalton found Jerome Simpson for a 14-yard score to make it 10-0 late in the first quarter.

Steven Hauschka knuckled a 47-yard field goal through the uprights on the first play of the second quarter to bring the Seahawks within 10-3. Zach Miller had a 17-yard reception and Rice hauled in a 15-yard completion to highlight the nine-play, 50-yard drive.

Jackson came on for Whitehurst -- who completed 4-of-7 passes for 52 yards -- on Seattle's fourth possession. Marshawn Lynch put the ball on the turf on the first play of the drive and the Bengals took over at the 31-yard line. But Cincinnati couldn't take advantage of the miscue as a pair of holding penalties halted the drive.

Dalton lofted a 43-yard TD pass downfield to Green, who he beat Earl Thomas on a double move to make it 17-3 with 1:51 to go in the half.

The Seahawks answered with a nine-play 69-yard drive, but they came away empty handed. Instead of taking the three points, Seattle went for it on 4th-and-2 at the Cincinnati three-yard line with 14 seconds left in the half. Lynch picked up two yards to the one-yard line for the first down, but time expired.

"I wanted to jam it down there," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said. "I knew where we were. It was totally me , it was my deal. I was thinking about knocking it in."

With less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter Dalton threw deep down the right sideline for Green, but Richard Sherman made a leaping interception as the Seahawks took over at the nine-yard line.

Jackson completed a deep pass down the left sideline to Obomanu for a 55-yard gain and the Seahawks concluded the nine-play 84-yard drive with a Hauschka 25-yard field goal to make it 17-6.

Kim Chancellor intercepted Dalton on Cincinnati's ensuing possession as he went deep to Green again down the right sideline and Seattle took over at the 21-yard line.

Baldwin hauled in a 31-yard pass down the right sideline and Jackson hit Rice for a 35-yard gain on the next play to put Seattle in the red zone. Lynch got in from two yards out three plays later to cap off the seven-play drive. The two-point try for Obomanu fell incomplete as the Seahawks pulled within 17-12 with 8:55 remaining in the game.

Tate returned the ensuing kickoff 45 yards to the 38-yard line. Scott had a 16-yard run which led to a Nugent 48-yard field goal to make it a 20-12 contest.

After a Seattle three-and-out, Tate made another significant special teams play, this time running a punt back 56 yards to put the game away.

Reggie Nelson returned a Jackson interception 75 yards for a touchdown with 36 seconds left to conclude the scoring.
