Seahawks' Harvin ruled out for NFC title game

Renton, WA ( - Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin has been ruled out for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers due to a concussion.

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll confirmed the decision to sit the speedy wideout at a press conference on Friday, saying that Harvin "will not make it through the doctor's protocol and will not be able to go."

Harvin sustained the injury in the second quarter of Seattle's 23-15 division playoff win over New Orleans. He hit his head hard on the turf while attempting to make a touchdown catch and did not return.

It was only Harvin's second game since being acquired by Seattle from the Minnesota Vikings during the offseason. He underwent arthroscopic surgery in August and missed the Seahawks' first 10 contests before facing his former team on Nov. 17. Harvin was then held out for the remainder of the regular season after experiencing swelling and stiffness in his hip.

The fifth-year pro caught three passes for 21 yards prior to exiting Seattle's win over the Saints.
