Report: Steven Jackson out 2-4 weeks
(Sports Network) - Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson could be facing an extended absence with a thigh injury that knocked him out of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.
A source with knowledge of the situation told NFL.com Tuesday that Jackson is "week-to-week" and may miss up to a month. The former Ram left his new team's 31-24 victory over his old one immediately after making an 8-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter.
The Falcons will likely use a combination of Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling in Jackson's absence, though the duo managed just 36 rushing yards on a combined 13 carries against the Rams.
Jackson, who signed with Atlanta in March after a productive nine-year tenure in St. Louis, had totaled 77 rushing yards on 14 attempts while making six catches for 53 yards over the first two games of the season.
Injuries are piling up for the Falcons, who also lost a pair of defensive starters in end/linebacker Kroy Biermann and outside linebacker Sean Weatherspoon during Sunday's win. Biermann is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon, while Weatherspoon was placed on injured reserve with a designated to return tag Tuesday after sustaining a significant foot sprain.
Additionally, fullback Bradie Ewing suffered a season-ending separated shoulder in Sunday's test.
