Raiders cut loose Barron, bring in Pashos

Alameda, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Raiders continued their player shuffle along the offensive line on Monday, with the team releasing Alex Barron and signing Tony Pashos in a swap of veteran tackles.

Pashos, a nine-year pro with 70 career starts to his credit, had been released by Washington during Saturday's final cuts. The 33-year-old started 12 games at right tackle for the Cleveland Browns in 2011, but sat out all of last season recovering from a foot injury that required surgery.

A fifth-round pick of Baltimore in the 2004 draft, Pashos has previously played for the Ravens, Jacksonville and San Francisco in addition to the Browns.

Barron was also out of football last year, but the former first-round selection had been operating as the Raiders' regular left tackle for part of the preseason with Jared Veldheer presently sidelined with a torn triceps. He has since been supplanted by rookie Menelik Watson for that spot.

The 30-year-old Barron started 74 games over five seasons with the St. Louis Rams from 2005-09, but has not played in the NFL since a one-year stint with Dallas in 2010.
