Giants legendary punter Jennings passes away

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Dave Jennings, former legendary punter and later radio analyst and Ring of Honor member of the New York Giants, passed away in his New Jersey home on Wednesday. He was 61.

Jennings had been battling Parkinson's disease since 1996. He was a four-time Pro Bowler during an 11-year stint with the Giants and is the going away leader in career punts for the franchise with 931. Sean Landeta is the runner- up with 526.

Jennings, also the franchise record holder in net punting yards with 38,792, punted for over 4,000 yards in a season three times and was inducted into the Giants' Ring of Honor in 2011.

After his playing career ended in 1987 following a three-year stint with the New York Jets, Jennings worked as a radio commentator for the Jets from 1988-2001.

In 2002, he joined Bob Papa and the late Dick Lynch in the Giants' radio booth. He remained in the booth until 2007, when he was replaced by Carl Banks.
