National Hockey League Playoff Game Capsules
(Sunday, April 20th)

Final Score: Philadelphia 4, NY Rangers 2

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Luke Schenn netted the game-winner 11:18 into the second period, as the Philadelphia Flyers reeled off four unanswered goals to claim a 4-2 victory over the New York Rangers in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series from Madison Square Garden. After dropping Game 1 by a 4-1 margin, the Flyers fell behind 2-0 in the first period Sunday before roaring back to even this best-of-seven set at one game apiece. Jakub Voracek, Jason Akeson and Wayne Simmonds each scored once, while Ray Emery, starting back-to-back games for the first time all season, stopped 31 shots for the Flyers, who snapped a nine-game losing skid at MSG. Martin St. Louis and Benoit Pouliot potted a goal apiece, while Henrik Lundqvist allowed three goals on 24 shots for the Rangers, who went 1-for-6 on the power play and allowed the Flyers to score on two of their three chances on the man advantage. The series shifts to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Tuesday.

Final Score: Boston 4, Detroit 1

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Bruins' first goal of the 2014 playoffs came from an unlikely source. Justin Florek snapped top-seeded Boston's scoreless drought in the first period Sunday after Jimmy Howard came out of the net to clear a puck and the Bruins scored three more goals for a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The Bruins, after losing 1-0 on Friday, evened the best-of- seven series going into Game 3 on Tuesday in Detroit. Reilly Smith, Milan Lucic and Zdeno Chara also scored and Tuukka Rask made 34 saves, letting in just the one goal after a shot hit off Detroit center Luke Glendening's glove in the crease. Florek, 23, was recalled from Providence of the AHL on Tuesday, just two days after he had been sent down.

Final Score: Montreal 3, Tampa Bay 2

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Rene Bourque scored the fastest game- opening goal for the Canadiens in almost 37 years and Carey Price came up with 27 saves, and Montreal is one victory away from a sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning after a 3-2 win in Game 3 of this Eastern Conference quarterfinal set on Sunday. Brendan Gallagher added a goal and one assist, while Tomas Plekanec also lit the lamp for the Canadiens, who can advance to the conference semifinals with another positive decision in Tuesday's Game 4 on home ice. P.K. Subban contributed a pair of helpers for Montreal, which hasn't played in the second round since reaching the Eastern finals in 2010. Ondrej Palat and Matt Carle provided offense with Steven Stamkos assisting on both for the Lightning, who face a long uphill battle if they wish to stay alive. Anders Lindback made 28 saves in the setback. Tampa has never been swept in seven postseason appearances.
