NBA Game Summary - Milwaukee at Brooklyn
(Sunday, December 9th)
Final Score: Milwaukee 97, Brooklyn 88
Brooklyn, NY (Sports Network) - Brandon Jennings scored a game-high 26 points
and Monta Ellis followed with 24 as the Milwaukee Bucks held off a late fourth
quarter Brooklyn Nets rally for a 97-88 victory at Barclays Center on Sunday.
Jennings knocked down 4-of-7 from three-point range, while Ellis shot an
effective 8-of-13 overall from the field in the Bucks' second straight win.
Marquis Daniels totaled 13 points and seven rebounds.
Brooklyn lost its fourth consecutive game and has won just once since starting
center Brook Lopez went down with a foot injury. Gerald Wallace and Deron
Williams helped fuel a fourth comeback, but the 29-point hole the Nets fell
into during the third quarter was too much to overcome.
Wallace posted a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Williams
finished with 18 points and eight assists in defeat.
The Nets started the opening quarter well, but their success didn't last long.
After jumping out to an 11-2 lead, Jennings and Ellis combined for 13 points
during a 17-2 Bucks run to take control.
The Nets then committed bad fouls in the final 30 seconds of the quarter, as
Mirza Teletovic gave Ekpe Udoh a three-point play and off a Williams miss,
Jerry Stackhouse was called for reaching in on Daniels with Brooklyn over the
foul limit.
Daniels' pair from the line put the Bucks ahead 25-18 going into the second,
where Milwaukee broke the game open late in the session.
After Kris Humphries made a layup with 2:51 left in the second to pull the
Nets within eight, the Bucks finished the quarter on a 9-0 run to take a
17-point lead into halftime.
After an 18-point effort in the first half, Jennings drained a 3-pointer early
in the third to bring the Bucks' advantage to 20, which soon swelled to 29
following a three-point play and a jumper by Ellis five minutes into the
frame.
The Nets trimmed the deficit to 15 on a Wallace layup, but five straight
points by the Bucks to end the period gave them what seemed to be a
comfortable 75-55 advantage heading into the final stanza.
However, Brooklyn began the fourth on 15-7 run to come within 82-70 before
Williams buried a triple to make it an eight-point game with 4:51 left to
play.
Humphries then scored on an uncontested dunk for the Nets to make it 85-79,
but they couldn't get any closer.
After falling behind by 10, Marshon Brooks buried one from downtown to pull
the Nets back to within single-digits, but Daniels answered right back with a
three of his own with just 1:23 remaining to all but secure the victory.
