Description: Yankees starter C.C. Sabathia has now won two straight starts.
Insight: Sabathia defeated Kansas City going seven innings and allowing one run on six hits. He struck out five and is now 2-5 with a 4.67 ERA overall.

5/11/2015 9:39:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter C.C. Sabathia left the game in line for his first victory of the season.
Insight: Sabathia pitched seven innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks, while striking out nine. He still has a unspectacular 5.20 ERA this season.

5/6/2015 9:37:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter C.C. Sabathia allowed four runs over 6 1/3 innings Wednesday versus Toronto.
Insight: Sabathia gave up nine hits and two walks while striking out four. He has an ugly 5.45 ERA this season.

4/25/2015 7:18:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter C.C. Sabathia continues to be a shell of his former self.
Insight: Sabathia pitched well against the tough Detroit Tigers offense on Monday, giving fantasy owners some hope that maybe he could be a servicable option, but he allowed seven runs in five innings and struck out just two versus the Mets on Saturday. Sabathia tossed up three home runs to Lucas Duda, Eric Campbell and Kevin Plawecki. Sabathia is 0-4 with a 5.96 ERA in four starts this season.

4/20/2015 9:48:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter CC Sabathia dropped to 0-3 on the season Monday, but he pitched very well against one of the best offenses in the American League.
Insight: Sabathia actually earned the rare complete game loss as he went eight innings in the road lost at Comerica Park. Sabathia allowed two runs on seven hits in his eight frames. He did walk three, but this was clearly his best start of the season. Sabathia has a 4.35 ERA and 1.26 WHIP to go with his 0-3 record this season.

4/14/2015 9:40:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter CC Sabathia took the loss Tuesday versus Baltimore.
Insight: He did not pitch poorly, but did allow four runs on seven hits and one walk over seven innings of work. Sabathia also had seven strikeouts and threw 91 pitches. He is 0-2 with a 5.68 ERA.

4/9/2015 9:17:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter CC Sabathia allowed five runs Thursday versus Toronto.
Insight: Four of the runs were earned, and he did manage eight strikeouts. However, it is becoming clearer and clearer that Sabathia is well past his prime.

3/12/2015 4:24:00 PM
Description: CC Sabathia (right knee surgery) pitched in a simulated game on Thursday.
Insight: He threw 29 pitches over two innings, and more importantly, felt good after. Sabathia should be ready to start the season, but he is simply not the player he once was. He will be a major risk in 2015 from not just an injury standpoint, but a production standpoint as well.

3/10/2015 11:24:00 AM
Description: CC Sabathia (right knee surgery) threw batting practice over the weekend and is expected to throw a simulated game on Thursday, according to Brendan Kuty of The Star-Ledger.
Insight: The left-hander has recorded just a 17-17 record, a 4.87 ERA and a 1.389 WHIP in the last two seasons. He's lost speed on his fastball and gained weight to put more pressure on his bad knee. I recommend all fantasy owners take a wait-and-see attitude.

2/10/2015 10:40:00 AM
Description: CC Sabathia (right knee surgery) says his rehab is going well and hopes to make at least 30 starts this season, according to a Bryan Hoch report for mlb.com
Insight: I'm more concerned with the drop in velocity over the past seasons. The left-hander has recorded just a 17-17 record, a 4.87 ERA and a 1.389 WHIP in the last two seasons and I recommend all fantasy owners take a wait-and-see attitude.

7/24/2014 11:24:00 AM
Description: CC Sabathia had knee surgery Wednesday and will miss the rest of the season.
Insight: Sabathia had experienced renewed swelling in his knee when he tried to return earlier this month. The left-hander's first four years with New York were excellent, as he went 74-29 with a 3.22 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP and one World Series title. However, he's recorded a 17-17 record, a 4.87 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP in the last two seasons.

7/4/2014 8:03:00 PM
Description: Yankees manager Joe Girardi doesn't expect starter CC Sabathia (knee) to return this season, according to Daniel Barbarisi of the Wall Street Journal.
Insight: Sabathia experienced renewed swelling in his knee and was shut down indefinitely on Thursday. The left-hander's first four years with New York were excellent, as he went 74-29 with a 3.22 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP and one World Series title. However, he's recorded a 17-17 record, a 4.87 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP in the last two seasons.

7/3/2014 5:59:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter CC Sabathia (knee) experienced renewed swelling and will have another MRI, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Sabathia has allowed seven runs (five earned) on eight hits in six innings during his two rehab starts so far but was hoping to be back immediately after the All-Star break. He could be out into August after this setback.

Description: New York starter CC Sabathia is about six weeks away from coming off the disabled list. SOURCE: New York Daily News
Insight: Sabathia (3-4, 5.28 ERA) is throwing again but it's a gradual process. He's been sidelined over a month with right knee inflammation.

6/17/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia (right knee) threw a bullpen session Monday, limiting his pitches to fastballs and changeups. SOURCE: Meredith Marakovits, YES Network
Insight: Sabathia, who went 3-4 with a 5.28 ERA prior to his knee injury, will throw all of his pitches in a bullpen session Wednesday and could be a few weeks away from returning. The left-hander has averaged just 89.6 mph with his fastball this season, down from 91.3 mph in 2013 and 93.9 mph in 2011. He's struggled to cope with the loss of velocity and allowed 38 home runs in his last 257 innings (1.33 HR/9). Only three starters have allowed more HR/9 than Sabathia since the start of 2013.

Description: Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia (right knee) played catch on Wednesday for the first time since he was placed on the DL. Source: Craig Wolff, The Star-Ledger.
Insight: Sabathia threw 25 times and experienced no pain during the session. While he's hopeful he can return before the All-Star break in July, the Yankees haven't placed a timetable on his return. Before getting injured, the slimmed-down southpaw posted a 5.28 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with a 48/10 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 46 innings.

5/19/2014 5:48:00 PM
Description: Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Monday that CC Sabathia (knee) will be out until at least late June and probably until July, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Insight: Cashman said that Sabathia's best-case scenario is a return "no sooner than six weeks from now." With the Yankees relying on David Phelps, Vidal Nuno and Chase Whitley in the rotation, look for them to be in the market for a starter.

Description: New York left-hander CC Sabathia is visiting another doctor on Monday. He went on the DL last week because of fluid buildup in his right knee. SOURCE: Jeff Roberts, The Record
Insight: He's not going to make it back when his 15 days are up. That means we'll probably see a few more starts from right-hander Chase Whitley (0-0, 0.00 ERA).

5/14/2014 10:42:00 AM
Description: Yankees starter CC Sabathia doesn't have any structural damage in his right knee. SOURCE: Newark Star-Ledger
Insight: Everything checked out when Sabathia (3-4, 5.28 ERA) visited Dr. James Andrews earlier this week. He's eligible to return May 26th against St. Louis.

5/12/2014 7:37:00 PM
Description: New York left-hander CC Sabathia will have his knee looked at by Dr. James Andrews. SOURCE: Andrew Marchand, ESPN New York
Insight: Usually Andrews is associated with Tommy John surgery but he was also the one who operated on Robert Griffin III when he suffered a torn ACL last postseason. Sabathia (3-4, 5.28 ERA) was placed on the DL Sunday after an MRI showed fluid buildup in his right knee.
