Albatross leads Parker to Ladies Italian Open win

Perugia, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Florentyna Parker holed an albatross on Sunday and that helped propel her to a 1-shot win at the Ladies Italian Open.

Parker shot a final-round 68 and finished the tournament at 7-under-par 209, which was just good enough to hold off Holly Clyburn, who ended at 6-under.

Beginning the final round at 3-under through two days, Parker started off strong with a birdie at the par-5 first hole. She gave that shot back with a bogey at No. 4, but a birdie at the par-5 sixth hole had Parker right back in the red numbers for the day.

A bogey at 10 and a birdie at 12 still had Parker behind a couple shots, but it was one shot in particular at the par-5 14th that won her the tournament.

Parker drained her second shot on the 427-yard par-5 for an albatross, vaulting her three shots up the leaderboard. She made par on the final four holes, including a nice up-and-down on the 18th, to secure her victory. Parker was the only player to shoot a sub-70 round on Sunday.

Clyburn bogeyed the last for a 70 to finish in sole possession of second place. Rebecca Hudson (71) ended in third at 5-under and Diana Luna shot an even-par 72 to conclude her tournament at 3-under 213.
