Todd declared winner of Stadion Classic

Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Brendon Todd was named the winner of the Stadion Classic at UGA on Sunday when the final round was canceled due to unplayable conditions.

Overnight, 2 1/2 inches of rain fell at the University of Georgia Country Club and rendered the course unplayable. Officials had delayed the start of the round for an hour before canceling the round.

"This was not a difficult decision. The course is completely unplayable. When you get a long, soaking rain like this on the clay, it basically becomes mush. There is not a tee on the golf course right now that's playable, anywhere," said Web.com Tour Tournament Director Jim Duncan. "There are probably six to eight fairways that are really bad and there would be no relief. The guys would have to play it out of the water or drop it on a cart path."

The win for Todd was his second on the Web.com Tour and he became the third straight University of Georgia alum to win this tournament.

Todd carded a 2-under 69 on Saturday to finish at 8-under-par 205.

"I think it has something to do with being comfortable out here. You still have to hit all the shots, but sometimes the shots are just more comfortable," Todd said. "I'm excited because I wanted to put my name on that list. It just makes it more special to get it done out here."

Tim Wilkinson took second place at minus-7 after posting a 70 on Saturday. Nick Rousey (66) was one stroke further back at 6-under-par 207.

Todd had a bogey and a birdie on the front nine Saturday. He carded three birdies between the 12th and 17th to move to 9-under. Todd stumbled to a bogey at the last to dip to 8-under. He was able to maintain the lead as Wilkinson also bogeyed the final hole.

"I was ready to play today. With all the rain we had and the water on the course, it didn't seem feasible that we would play. This is sweet. I don't really care how I win," said Todd, who hadn't arrived at the course when he was told of the result.

NOTES: Todd collected $108,000 for the win ... His other win was at the 2008 Utah Championship ... Wilkinson matched his career-best finish, and the other time he took second was at the 2005 Oregon Classic, which was also shortened by rain ... This was the first weather-shortened event since the 2011 Fresh Express Classic, which had the final round called due to fog.
