South Carolina State sets 12-game schedule

Orangeburg, SC (Sports Network) - South Carolina State football will try to rebound from a rare losing season during a 12-game 2013 football schedule, which includes five home games.

The Bulldogs finished 5-6 last year - their first losing record in 12 seasons.

They will host Coastal Carolina in their season opener on Aug. 31 before staying in state for a visit to ACC power Clemson on Sept. 7.

South Carolina State's other home games at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium are against Alabama A&M (Sept. 14) and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference members Hampton (Sept. 28), Florida A&M (Nov. 9) and Morgan State (Nov. 16).

Coach Buddy Pough's squad will play in two classics, against Benedict in the Palmetto Capital City City in Columbia on Sept. 21 and MEAC rival North Carolina A&M in the Atlanta Football Classic on Oct. 5.
