Roughriders bring back former Defensive POY Chick
Regina, SK (Sports Network) - 2009 CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player John Chick is returning to the Saskatchewan Roughriders following a three-year stint in the NFL, with the team announcing the signing of the import defensive end on Sunday.
Chick spent three seasons with the Riders from 2007-09 and racked up 11 sacks and 32 tackles in the last of those years to claim the CFL's top defender honors. The 30-year-old signed with the Indianapolis Colts the following offseason but was waived during final cuts, before joining the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars shortly afterward.
The Utah State product played in 19 games with the Jags over the past two seasons, recording 10 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and three passes defended.
