Tate gets call at QB over Glenn for Stamps' playoff opener

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - When the Calgary Stampeders host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a West Division semifinal on Sunday, they will have a different name leading the offense.

Drew Tate has gotten the nod in the Stamps' postseason opener over Kevin Glenn, despite having missed most of this season while recovering from a dislocated shoulder.

In his fourth CFL season, Tate completed 46-of-63 passes for four touchdowns but was picked off three times. He went 16-of-22 for 207 yards and a pair of scores after being cleared to return to action.

Glenn, who won a Grey Cup in 2007 with Winnipeg, was acquired in early January from Hamilton in a deal which shipped Henry Burris to the Ticats, and then signed a restructured contract later that month.

The 33-year-old Illinois State product threw for 4,220 yards and 25 touchdowns against 16 interceptions as Calgary finished with a 12-6 record.

Tate, meanwhile, struggled in his 2011 playoff start, losing to the rival Edmonton Eskimos.
