GAME NOTES: The Tulane Green Wave take to the road to battle the Old Dominion Monarchs in a Conference USA matchup on Saturday night.

The Green Wave won their last game in a 59-54 decision over East Carolina on Thursday night. That was the second win in a row for Tulane, and the third in its last four overall.

Old Dominion fell to Southern Miss, 75-60, also on Thursday night. That loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Monarchs.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools, and the first since the 1994-95 season. ODU won two of the first three meetings, but Tulane won the last, 85-80, in overtime on Dec. 5, 1994 in New Orleans. The only other meeting in Norfolk came on Dec. 29, 1970 with Old Dominion claiming a 91-76 victory.

Jay Hook netted 17 points, leading the Green Wave in their recent win over East Carolina. Hook shot 6-of-11 from the field, while Jonathan Stark contributed 13 points in the win. Tulane shot 47.8 percent in the first half, but still trailed 32-28 lead at the break. The Green Wave knocked down 4-of-9 from the perimeter after halftime, to erase the early deficit and come away with the win.

Tulane has been getting outscored by its opponents this season, as it shoots just 41.6 percent from the field for 66.4 ppg, while allowing 70.5 ppg on 44.5 percent shooting. What it lacks in field goal efficiency it is able to make up for at the free-throw line, where it shoots 71.9 percent and has drained 104 more free throws than its opponents. Dabney leads the way with 17.0 ppg, while Stark (15.4 ppg) and Hook (14.6 ppg) have both been outstanding from beyond the arc, as the duo has combined for 68 3-pointers at greater than a 44.2 percent clip. Dye has been the leader on the boards, pulling down 6.9 rpg.

Aaron Bacote led the Monarchs with 19 points, as they had a four-game win streak snapped in the loss to Southern Miss. Richard Ross accounted for 11 points and nine rebounds, while Keenan Palmore chipped in with 10 points. Trailing 52-51 with under nine minutes to play, Southern Miss finished the game on a 24-8 run to secure the victory. Southern Miss had 11 steals and capitalized on ODU's 17 turnovers by netting 32 points.

Bacote leads the Monarchs in scoring this season with 17.3 ppg on 41.6 percent shooting. Dimitri Batten is second at 11.4 ppg, and Palmore, the sophomore, is third at 11.2 ppg. Bacote has a team-high 60 assists, while Palmore tops the squad with 24 steals. Ross paces the Monarchs in rebounding at 7.5 rpg. As a team, the Monarchs are holding teams to just 65.1 ppg, third-best in C-USA, but they are second-worst in scoring at only 65.2 ppg.

Expect a low-scoring contest from two squads that struggle offensively. With points hard to come by. the advantage that the Green Wave has had at the free- throw line should be enough to allow them to escape with the win.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Tulane 67, Old Dominion 65
