GAME NOTES: The Elon Phoenix will try stay hot when they take on the Wofford Terriers in a Southern Conference tilt at Johnson Arena.

Elon has won seven in a row, including Saturday's 77-66 decision over Samford. At 8-2 in conference play, the Phoenix entered the week atop the SoCon North Division standings by a healthy 2 1/2 games. Their seven-game winning streak is the program's longest since 2005-06, and the 15 wins overall matches the Phoenix's total from all of last season.

Wofford has veered in the opposite direction with losses in six of its last seven outings. The Terriers were in action this past Saturday, as they suffered a 68-57 home loss to Davidson. They'll wrap up a three-game homestand Saturday night against UNC-Greensboro.

These teams met up a few weeks ago in Elon, where the Phoenix claimed a 68-61 home victory to extend their lead in the all-time series to 30-19.

Elon's Lucas Troutman joined teammate Jack Isenbarger in the 1,000-point club in last weekend's win over Samford. Troutman notched his 21st consecutive game in double figures as he finished with a career-high 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds and six blocks. He is three blocks away from the school's all-time record held by Eric Hairston. Isenbarger added 22 points against Samford, although the Phoenix had to overcome the Bulldogs' 11-of-18 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Troutman-Isenbarger duo has been the driving force behind Elon's success this season. Troutman is shooting a solid 54.2 percent from the floor and leads the team in scoring (16.0 ppg) to go along with 6.0 rebounds per game. Isenbarger is averaging nearly three 3-pointers a night and is second on the team in scoring (14.8 ppg). Ryley Beaumont helps out down low with 10.0 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per contest, while fellow starter Sebastian Koch (8.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg) is shooting at a 43-percent clip from the perimeter.

Wofford has had its struggles on the offensive end of the floor, as the Terriers are shooting just 39 percent from the floor as a team while posting only 58.8 ppg. Karl Cochran leads the way with 15.4 ppg, followed by Spencer Collins with 12.3 ppg, although both players are shooting less than 39 percent. Lee Skinner is next in line with 10.5 points and a team-best 7.4 rebounds per tilt.

In their latest outing, the Terriers shot just 8-of-23 from the field in the first half and trailed Davidson, 38-23 at the break. In the second half, Wofford stepped up its defensive pressure and held the Terriers to 6-of-19 shooting (.316) after they posted a 62.5-percent effort from the floor in the opening stanza (15-of-24). However, the early deficit proved to steep to overcome. Collins finished with a game-high 24 points in the loss, while Cochran scored 14.

Elon has been playing its best basketball of the season over the past month, and the Phoenix have showed no signs of slowing down as they eye up the season sweep of the Terriers.
