Anchorage, AK (SportsNetwork.com) - Brett Olson scored 19 points as the Denver
Pioneers defeated the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves 78-71 in the final day of the
Great Alaska Shootout at Sullivan Arena.
Chris Udofia scored 15 points and had seven assists for the Pioneers (1-4).
Jalen Love added 13 points and Cam Griffin brought down 10 boards.
Travis Thompson scored 20 points for the Seawolves (5-4). Kyle Fossman added
16 points while Teancum Stafford chipped in 13 with seven rebounds. Brian
McGill had eight assists.
The Seawolves shot 53.6 percent from the field and drained 10-of-16 from 3-
point range to take a 44-37 lead into the intermission. The Pioneers made 48.3
percent of their field goal attempts but struggled from beyond the arc, only
making 4-of-13 from behind the 3-point line.
Denver came out of the half strong, making 56.7 percent of its shots from the
floor and sinking 6-of-8 from 3-point range. Alaska-Anchorage cooled down
going 41.7 percent from the floor and only making 3-of-10 from beyond the arc.
With 2:46 remaining the two teams were tied at 71. A Bryant Rucker basket
started a 7-0 run to end the game and give the win to the Pioneers.
Denver won the battle up front, outscoring the Seawolves 30-20 in the paint.
