(Monday, January 13th)

Final Score: Youngstown State 67, Cleveland State 66

Youngstown, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Kendrick Perry scored the final 12 points of the night for Youngstown State, included a crucial free throw with 26.4 seconds remaining, as the Penguins held on to defeat the Cleveland State Vikings, 67-66, in Horizon League play at the Beeghly Center.

Perry finished with a game-high 31 points, shooting 10-of-15 from the floor, as the Penguins (11-8, 2-2 HL) captured their second win in as many games. Also scoring in double figures for YSU were Ryan Weber and Bobby Hain with 10 points apiece.

Bryn Forbes was credited with 17 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Vikings (10-8, 2-2), followed by Trey Lewis and Marlin Mason with 15 and 10 points, respectively. Anton Grady nearly came up with a double-double as he posted nine points and nine rebounds, but he also accounted for seven of the unit's 21 turnovers.

Both teams shot the ball well from the floor in the first half, with CSU hitting 54.2 percent and the Penguins 56.0 percent. The Vikings also made good on 5-of-8 behind the 3-point line, but it was YSU with the 43-37 advantage at the break thanks to an 11-6 advantage at the free-throw line.

The squads struggled in the second half, with Cleveland State coming up with more turnovers (12) than field goals, yet the visitors still made it challenging down the stretch before Perry took over.

The Vikings, who had a two-game win streak come to an end, finished the night shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 9-of-17 beyond the arc.
