Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Collinsworth scored 18 points to
lead six players in double figures for the BYU Cougars, who topped the Santa
Clara Broncos 91-81 in a West Coast Conference tilt at the Leavey Center.
Anson Winder and Tyler Haws each netted 16 points for BYU (13-7, 5-2 WCC),
which has won five-straight. Matt Carlino added 15 points and nine rebounds
and Eric Mika and Skyler Halford added 10 points apiece.
Jared Brownridge poured in 30 points and Brandon Clark added 20 for Santa
Clara (10-11, 3-5), which has lost three straight.
BYU entered halftime, leading 47-30 after shooting 58.6 percent from the
floor, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range, in the first half. Santa Clara hit
on just 32.3 percent from the floor in the period.
Despite a 7-of-12 showing from beyond the arc and a 56.7 percent overall
shooting effort in the second half from the Broncos, the Cougars held on by
sinking 65.2 percent from the field.
BYU owned a 36-27 advantage on the glass and scored 34 points in the paint.
Santa Clara had an 18-8 edge in points off turnovers.
