Ypsilanti, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Talley and Darell Combs each scored
14 points as the Eastern Michigan Eagles overpowered the Western Michigan
Broncos to take a 56-37 decision in Mid-American Conference play at the
Talley also had three steals and Glenn Bryant chipped in seven points for
Eastern Michigan (10-6, 2-1 MAC), which has won three of its last four.
David Brown scored a game-high 18 points and Shayne Whittington had 10
rebounds for Western Michigan (9-6, 2-1), which had a four-game winning streak
Eastern Michigan shot 43.5 percent from the floor, including a 6-of-10 showing
from beyond the arc, in the first half. Meanwhile, Western Michigan had only
four field goals in the frame to enter halftime trailing 32-14.
After the break the Eagles cooled to 29.2 percent shooting, but it was enough
to hold off the Broncos, who totaled only eight field goals in the period.
The Eagles outscored the Broncos 27-10 off of turnovers and 20-6 in the paint.
