Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh Hagins hit a jumper at the buzzer as
the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans edged out a 72-70 win over the Texas-
Arlington Mavericks in Sun Belt Conference action at the College Park Center.
James White led the way on offense with 18 points, followed by Will Neighbour
who contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans (7-7, 2-0 Sun Belt)
as they grabbed their third straight win. Ben Dillard and Hagins each added 10
Lonnie McClanahan netted 17 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor, as well
as 7-of-8 at the free-throw line, to lead UT Arlington (5-9, 0-2). Brandon
Edwards contributed 14 points and nine rebounds, while Reger Dowell (13
points) and Shaquille White-Miller (10) each scored double figures. UT
Arlington has lost two in a row and three of its last four.
UALR shot just 32.1 percent in the first half, hitting 9-of-28 attempts from
the floor. UT Arlington converted 42.9 percent in the first 20 minutes and
went into the locker room tied 33-33 with the Trojans.
UALR came out firing in the second half, hitting 17-of-31 shots (54.8 percent)
from the field. The Mavericks dropped their shooting percentage down to 40.7
percent in the second half.
Little Rock had the advantage in points off turnovers, 17-12, and slightly
beat out the Mavericks in points in the paint, 36-34.
