finished with 17 points to lead the Northern Iowa Panthers to a 76-66 victory
over the Drake Bulldogs in a Missouri Valley Conference tilt at the McLeod
For the Panthers (9-7, 3-1 MVC), Matt Bohannon and Seth Tuttle each added 11
points, while Nate Buss scored 10.
Jordan Daniels finished with 18 points to lead the Bulldogs (10-6, 1-3), while
Aaron Hawley chipped in with 11 points.
UNI shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, as the Panthers took a
37-34 lead into intermission. They did have some difficulty from deep, making
just 3-of-14 of their shots from beyond the arc. Drake made 44.8 percent of
its shots from the floor in the half, including 5-of-11 from 3-point range.
Just like the first, Panthers made 50 percent of their field goal in the
second half, this time connecting on 6-of-13 from 3-point distance. The
Bulldogs struggled from the field after halftime, shooting just 39.3 percent
and 3-of-13 from long range. Trailing by three, 61-58, with just over four
minutes remaining, the Panthers used a 10-0 run over a two minute span to
take the lead and pull away for the win.
UNI had the edge under the basket, outscoring Drake in the paint 30-20 and
outrebounding them 35-30. Both teams took good care of the ball, each turning
it over just eight times in the contest.
