NCAA Game Summary - Michigan at Nebraska

Lincoln, NE (SportsNetwork.com) - Derrick Walton Jr. got a layup to fall with
23 seconds to play to lift the Michigan Wolverines to a 71-70 victory over the
Nebraska Cornhuskers in a Big Ten thriller at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Glenn Robinson III finished with 19 points as the leading scorer for Michigan
(11-4, 3-0 Big Ten), which has won four straight. Jordan Morgan tallied 15
points, Nik Stauskas chipped in 12 and Walton Jr. and Caris LeVert each
Terran Petteway paced Nebraska (8-7, 0-3), with 16 points, but was also guilty
of a game-high six turnovers. Ray Gallegos hit 4-of-10 shots from beyond the
arc to finish with 14 points. Deverell Biggs also scored 14 points and Walter
Pitchford tacked on 12.
Michigan clung to a 33-30 lead at halftime after shooting 56.5 percent from
the field in the opening period. Nebraska remained within striking distance by
netting 5-of-11 shots from beyond the arc.
A 5-0 spurt from Nebraska pulled the teams even at 63-63 with 4:38 to play.
Michigan would pull ahead three more times in the next three minutes only to
have Nebraska even the score once again each time. Then, with the score
knotted at 69-69, Petteway was fouled and split a pair of free-throws to push
Nebraska ahead, 70-69 with 34 seconds left on the clock. The lead was short
lived, with Walton nailing what turned out to be the game-winner on the other
end. The Cornhuskers had two chances to win in the final seconds but both
shots were off the mark.
Michigan had a 21-7 scoring advantage off of turnovers that proved to be too
much for Nebraska to overcome. The game featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes.
