Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Andrew Lawrence scored a game-high 22
points, leading three in double figures, as the College of Charleston Cougars
captured a 71-67 victory over the Boston College Eagles in the seventh-place
game of the Charleston Classic at TD Arena.
Anthony Stitt delivered 12 points for the Cougars (2-2), followed by Anthony
Thomas with 10 points, while Willis Hall handled the action on the inside with
his game-high 11 rebounds.
The Eagles (1-3) were paced by Patrick Heckmann who came off the bench to
register 18 points, hitting on 4-of-6 shots behind the three-point line, while
Lonnie Jackson's 4-of-9 effort on the perimeter resulted in 14 points. Joe
Rahon produced 13 points and a team-best seven boards, followed by Dennis
Clifford with 11 points and five boards in 19 minutes of action.
Early in the first half the Eagles, trailing by four points, put together a
13-2 run which eventually led to a 34-29 advantage at the break. Boston
College made good on not just 48.0 percent from the field in the period, it
also converted 7-of-14 behind the three-point line as well.
In the second half BC dropped to just 33.3 percent accuracy from the floor and
3-of-15 on the perimeter, opening the door for the Cougars to bounce back and
assume the lead, en route to the four-point victory.
