Spartanburg, SC (Sports Network) - Trent Wiedeman scored 17 points off the
bench for the College of Charleston Cougars who handily defeated the Wofford
Terriers, 79-50, in a Southern Conference clash at Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Wideman was 8-of-10 from the field with eight rebounds for the Cougars (14-7,
6-3 SoCon), who have won two in a row. Theo Johnson, also coming off the
bench, added 12 points while shooting 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Anthony
Stitt was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc as he managed 11 points.
For Wofford (8-13, 2-6), Jarell Byrd was the only player in double-figures
with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. Spencer Collins was the
second highest scorer for the Terriers with eight points as they took their
seventh loss in nine games.
The Cougars led 34-13 at halftime after shooting 51.7 percent from the field
and holding the Terriers to just 19.2 percent shooting.
In the second half the Cougars were even more impressive, shooting 70.0
percent from the floor and knocking down 9-of-12 3-point attempts.
Throughout the game Charleston shot at an efficient 59.2 percent from the
field while Wofford shot just 33.3 percent.
