Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - Tyler Flack scored 21 points and helped spark a
second-half rally that carried South Dakota to an 81-69 win over North
Carolina Central in the final game for both teams at the Global Sports
Showcase.
Flack added a team-best eight rebounds and Juevol Myles finished with 13
points and six assists to help the Coyotes (1-2) notch their first victory
after season-opening defeats to Southern and host Wyoming in the tournament.
Karim Rowson and Casey Kasperbauer contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively,
for South Dakota.
The Coyotes trailed 37-32 early in the second half before stringing together a
15-0 run to claim a 10-point lead. Myles buried a pair of 3-pointers during
the surge, the last of which gave South Dakota a 44-37 advantage, and
Kasperbauer capped it with a long-distance basket of his own to extend the
margin to double digits with 15:29 left.
NC Central closed within 67-63 on Jay Copeland's 3-point play with 5:33
remaining, but the Coyotes countered with a 6-1 run and went up 73-64 on
Rowson's steal and layup with 3:48 to go.
The Eagles (2-3) never got closer to seven points down the rest of the way and
concluded the event with a 1-2 mark.
Copeland paced NC Central with 18 points, with Jeremy Ingram netting 17 off
the bench in defeat.
